Columbus

Cristobal Colon, or, as we formerly called him, Christopher Columbus, dukes it out with Picasso for the title of Spain’s most celebrated son, and his dusty old remains are here in Seville, in the Cathedral, which just so happens to be the third largest in the world. Columbus, or what is left of him, was brought back from Cuba and deposited inside the tomb on the shoulders of the serious-looking statues representing the 4 kingdoms of Spain. The weird thing is, he was actually Italian. Posted by Picasa
