The Camargue

We had grand plans for the Camargue. It is billed as an untamed part of France, where the wild indigenous horses run freely past flocks of pink flamingoes, wading in the salt marshes. We thought it sounded like a great spot to take the girls for the weekend. Few things in France are untamed, however, including the, now very domesticated, white horses of the Camargue. After being ravaged by mosquitoes (who would have guessed with all the standing water in the marshes) we decided to say au revoir, and head to Arles the town where VanGogh was hospitalized after going mad. (Must have been to the Camargue.) We did manage to spot a few flamingoes though. Posted by Picasa
